Building from ABS

You probably have heard many voices telling that a GUI that downloads, compiles and builds packages is a bad thing, and probably even a security flaw. However, that is true for AUR, but not for ABS.

ABS checks out PKGBUILDS from a repository, and those repositories are primarly Arch's official ones. Since ABS contains only verified PKGBUILDS, building and installing automatically from ABS tree is not a bad idea, and it's not a security flaw. This feature will just help advanced users in building their system from source easily.

This feature is already implemented: you can build your packages at a glance, and have their makedepends and dependancies processed automatically. We also give you a simple, but handy tool to review and edit your PKGBUILDs just before building.

It is not in our plans to provide support for AUR Unsupported Repository, first of all for the reasons explained above, and secondly because there are already some great wrappers/frontends around.
